One of the most effective choices in Alien was making its characters ordinary working-class "space truckers". They aren't soldiers or explorers; they are miners just trying to finish a job and collect their bonus.

As they explore the alien vessel, they discover a chamber filled with hundreds of large, leathery eggs.
