The column on page 43 was a travel piece about a town only half-remembered by name, its streets described in terms of flavor and scent rather than coordinates: a café that burned coffee like incense, a pier where fishermen left messages in bottles, a bakery that kept a key taped beneath its counter. At the bottom of the column, tucked beside an advert for sunscreen, was a tiny boxed recipe titled "Bouillabaisse for One."
