Courts have repeatedly taken action against the 9xmovies network. In a landmark case, Applause Entertainment Private Limited v. www.9xmovies.com.tw & Ors. (2025), the Delhi High Court granted a summary judgment that the website operators were guilty of copyright infringement under the Copyright Act, 1957. The Court issued a restraining the websites from further infringing copyright, and ordered ISPs and government authorities to block access to them.
