Choose "Browse my computer for drivers" and point to the folder where you extracted the files in step 2.
You do not always need a standalone internet download to get the proper files. Autocom hardware relies on FTDI chips to create a bridge between the physical USB port and the software interface. You can acquire the necessary driver files through three primary locations:
Even with the correct files, you may encounter some common issues. Below is a quick troubleshooting guide based on real-world user experiences.
The most important lesson for any Autocom user is to understand that the drivers are not meant to be downloaded from just any website. The driver files are almost always packaged with the Autocom Cars software itself. When you install the main diagnostic suite, the necessary USB drivers should be copied to your hard drive automatically. This is where you need to direct Windows when it asks for them.
Note the COM port number assigned to your device (e.g., COM3, COM4, COM7).
The Autocom CDP is versatile, designed to read and clear fault codes, display live sensor data, guide you through component activation, and perform other advanced functions. In many setups, the software also serves as the foundation for the software package used by Autocom's newer and more advanced tool, the ICON.
